Rogue Blight New Game+

Infinite scaling, permanent upgrades, Challenge Maps, and when to loop the story.

Infinite New Game Plus

Rogue Blight’s story is a short loop on purpose. CodeRadGames built infinite New Game+ so the campaign does not end when The Blight falls. Each time you finish story mode you can run it again with harder enemies. That is the long game: not a new continent, but the same three chapters — Waywood Forest, Fireworn City, Blight Castle — with meaner math.

If you still need a first-clear route, use the chapter walkthrough. If bosses are the wall, use the bosses page. This article is about when to start the loop, what actually scales, and how Challenge Maps sit beside NG+ instead of replacing it.

What infinite NG+ actually scales

Official project copy is specific. Each higher difficulty increases:

  • enemy damage
  • enemy speed
  • enemy health
  • enemy size
  • enemy status effect apply rate

Those five axes are the whole public formula. This wiki will not invent a percent table per cycle. Demo footage of the difficulty UI showed one step with a large damage bump and smaller speed and health bumps (one clip displayed figures on the order of high damage, low-single-digit health). Treat that as demo HUD, not a launch bible. Read the numbers on your own difficulty screen.

Size is not flavor. A regular forest enemy that grows into Gorilla-adjacent space changes roll timing. Status apply rate means you get Bleed, Poison, Burn, Freeze, Shock, Choke, Shatter, Life Splash, Darkness, or Light Struck stacked faster than on the first clear. Builds that ignored status because “I just hit harder” leak on later loops.

Steam’s combat blurb also ties NG+ to “escalating challenges in infinite New Game+ story mode.” There is no published cap. Players in demo footage joked about triple-digit difficulties on the sanctuary board. That is a UI tease, not a promise that difficulty 101 is balanced for your current Funguy.

Permanent upgrades: gold and Funguy

Death is still a run end. Progress between runs is gold plus Funguy (official text also uses Fungi). You spend them in the sanctuary-style hub on unlocks that change future maps. Demo and official copy show the flavor of those unlocks — this is not a complete shop dump:

  • potion unlocks (health, mana)
  • keep gold when a run ends
  • bonfires that refill potions
  • statues that grant extra health, mana, or stamina
  • richer shops and extra sold slots
  • blacksmith forge points per smelt
  • a starting weapon choice (demo: wooden wand option)
  • a starting minor blessing
  • perception for button-prompt events (stealing mushrooms and similar choices)
  • blessing rerolls

Konrad’s design note: it should still be possible to beat the game without upgrades, so the shop is a comfort and a multiplier, not a paywall inside a game you already bought. Spend first on economy (keep gold, potion refill, shop stock). Spend second on fight stats (statue value, starting blessing). Cosmetics and extra noses wait until you are not dying to the first forest elite.

Player level from kills expands the loot pool and unlocks cosmetic gear you can wear at the start of a run. That is a second axis: NG+ is harder, but your drop table is wider if you actually finished fights instead of rushing the boss node naked.

When to start NG+

Start the next difficulty when you can explain your last boss kill in a sentence: “I held a roll, I applied Burn, I drank after the combo.” If the only reason Wendigo died was a once-per-run revive blessing, bank upgrades and repeat the same difficulty until the duel is yours.

A practical first-clear rule:

  1. Finish Waywood through Wendigo without treating every unknown as mandatory.
  2. Buy potion refill and gold retention if you see them.
  3. Finish Fireworn and the castle on that same understanding.
  4. Then tick NG+.

Jumping difficulty because the sanctuary board looks funny is how you donate a three-hour castle run to a larger, faster grab. Helrayzr’s no-hit to Wendigo on Difficulty 3 is a published skill bar, not a suggested homework assignment for hour two.

If your loadout is still “whatever the last chest gave me,” read the builds tier list before you add enemy health. NG+ is a build exam. Dual-wield’s same-type 40% damage and status penalty (demo Captain) gets harsher when enemies apply status faster than you do.

Leaderboards

Steam ships leaderboards. CodeRad’s project scope described weekly and monthly randomly generated challenges with curses and modifiers — lightning on your tile, enemies 50% bigger, and similar jokes that overlap NG+ size scaling. Beating a challenge was meant to unlock a harder attempt that feeds placement.

Launch week is the wrong time to treat a leaderboard as a complete esports scene. Check launch notes for what actually shipped and what was patched. This page will not invent seasonal reward tracks that Steam copy does not list.

Challenge Maps are not NG+

Challenge Maps are a separate one-life toy inside the story. You get one attempt. Fail it and you do not retry that instance — you find another in the story. That is closer to a rogue-like daily you cannot farm than to infinite NG+.

Do not open a Challenge Map as your first teaching tool. Do not open one at one potion on the castle door. If you want infinite retries with rising math, that is NG+ story mode. If you want a single shot with a weird layout, that is a Challenge Map. Mixing the two in your head is how you waste a good blessing row.

Unknown ? nodes remain the place for odd NPCs, including Helrayzr’s immortalized character. Those events can drop Funguy and gold that feed the NG+ climb. They can also kill you. Route them like the walkthrough says: curiosity is a resource.

How the climb actually feels

Early NG+ is a damage check. You still know the tells; you just cannot greed the third hit. Mid NG+ is a size and speed check. Roll timing you learned on Gorilla will be late if the model is bigger and the swing is faster. Late NG+ is a status check. Enemy apply rate turns a brush into a death. Bring cleanse logic if a blessing or potion offers it; otherwise play spacing like the status is already on you.

Do not expect a new 17-boss campaign each loop. You get the same named walls — Gorilla, Wendigo, Statue Dweller, Illdrake Knight, Royal Rotter, Blight Lady, The Blight, and the unnamed rest — with worse math. Konrad added a giant dragon as a set-piece in development; if it sits on your NG+ path, treat it as a gimmick fight, not as a reason to skip statue and bonfire nodes.

Story length stays about three to four hours per successful loop, plus the time you spend dead. The replay is the product. Runs were designed not to last forever so you can take “one more difficulty” without blocking a week.

Infinite NG+ is a size joke that becomes a status joke. The run that dies to a regular enemy because it is now as large as a demo boss is the run that teaches you to stop greed-hitting.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Does Rogue Blight have infinite New Game+?

Yes. Official copy says every story-mode finish lets you play again on higher difficulty, with no published cap. Enemies gain damage, speed, health, size, and status apply rate.

When should I start New Game+?

After you can clear the story bosses without leaning on a one-shot revive. Buy gold retention and potion refill first. If Wendigo still feels random, stay on the current difficulty and read the bosses guide.

What currencies feed permanent upgrades?

Gold and Funguy (also called Fungi in official text). You earn them in runs and spend them in the hub on potions, shops, statues, bonfires, blacksmith value, and starting options.

Are Challenge Maps the same as New Game+?

No. Challenge Maps are one attempt; fail and find another in the story. NG+ is the infinite story loop with scaling enemies. Leaderboards and rotating weekly or monthly challenges are a third, competitive layer.

Will my build still work on later difficulties?

Only if it respects stamina and status. Later loops apply status faster and occupy more of the arena. Check the builds tier list instead of assuming a forest dual-wield still wins on size-scaled castle bosses.
