Rogue Blight Builds Tier List
Five launch-week archetypes. Grades are community guidance, not patched gospel.
Rogue Blight does not give you a class screen. You make a build by putting two one-handed weapons on a character, then stacking blessings, armor, and the three stats (Strength, Intelligence, Dexterity) around whatever dropped. This page ranks five archetypes that actually show up in launch-week play. It is community guidance after 3 September 2026, not a CodeRadGames tier dump.
Read the weapons tier list for family letters, the blessings tier list for relics, and the weapons and builds guide for skill-by-skill pairing. Timing, stamina, and i-frames stay on the combat guide. If those four pages disagree with a streamer thumbnail, trust in-game tooltips first.
Same-type pairs (two daggers, two swords, two wands) enter dual-wield stance: both attack, 40% less attack damage and status apply rate. Shields stay left-hand only. Mixed types keep full per-swing numbers and swap. Every archetype below is a stance decision, not a fashion choice.
Dual daggers — S for skilled hands, A for first week
Plan: two dagger-family weapons, Dexterity (crit and stamina recovery), Bleed or Poison as the primary status, dodge instead of block.
Why it is S when it works: hit count fights the 40% apply-rate cut. Iron Dagger’s Dashing Thrust (footage) is a gap closer. Consecutive-attack blessings and crit/status packages from the blessings list are almost mandatory if you want the stance to out-DPS mixed sword-and-dagger.
Why it drops to A: short range into large bosses (Gorilla, later castle threats) and New Game+ size modifiers. If you still eat grabs, put a sword in one hand or a shield on the left and come back later.
Shop / statue: dex and stamina. Skip Intelligence unless a dagger skill is actually a thrown status. Gold goes to matching the second dagger, not a random wand.
Sword and shield — S for first clears, A once you no-hit
Plan: any sword in the right hand, shield in the left, Strength for damage, statue health, conservative map routing.
Why it is S for new saves: you get a defensive unique skill and a ranged-enough melee option at the same time. Waywood Forest, the remaining demo muscle memory, and one-attempt Challenge Maps all reward this. Armor of Thorns, counter-heal, and shield cooldown blessings are the chest priority.
Why it is A later: the left hand is a whole unique skill you could spend on a second sword, dagger, or wand. After you learn boss tells, the shield is opportunity cost. Keep it for New Game+ damage spikes and for any chapter you have not finished.
Shop / statue: health, then stamina. Mana only if the sword skill is expensive. Smelt novice tunics; do not wear fashion over poise.
Dual swords — A
Plan: two sword-family weapons in dual-wield stance. Strength primary. Fire Sword plus a second fire or physical sword if the shop allows.
Why it is A, not S: you pay the 40% damage cut without dagger hit count or wand range. You keep reach and poise, which matters on wide boss arenas. Iron Sword’s Rising Slash (footage) and Iron Rapier’s dex lean give you two different sword identities — rapier wants Dexterity like a dagger, chunky iron wants Strength like a shield-breaker.
Blessings: consecutive-hit still helps. Aerial double damage is real if you already jump slash. Second Life is better than a greedy +20% you-and-enemy aura, because dual swords still stand in melee.
When to abandon it: if both swords are wooden-tier, smelt and go mixed. Dual wooden is not an archetype; it is a tutorial.
Wand caster — A with mana, B without
Plan: one or two wands, Intelligence, mana potions, bonfire refills, statue mana. Dual Fire Wands (footage) if you can afford the 40% cut and still melt Burn. Mixed wand plus dagger if you need a panic melee button.
Why it is A: you fight from a lane. Burn, Freeze, Shock, and Light Struck all look more comfortable when you are not inside a slam. Mouse-aim and controller-aim both matter; missed projectiles are wasted mana.
Why it is B on a dry map: no potions, no bonfire, no Intelligence, and dual-wield’s apply-rate cut on a slow wand is a dead run. Wooden Wand is a starter, not a destination.
Blessings: skip shield cooldown. Take legendary find only if many nodes remain. Water-pulse style area blessings help if you kite in a circle. The 70% HP damage reduction is excellent because casters should not be getting hit.
Status stacker — S if the map cooperates, A as a hybrid
Plan: build around one or two of the ten statuses, not all ten. Bleed plus Poison on daggers. Burn on fire sword / fire wand. Freeze into Shatter if both pieces drop. Shock or Choke as interrupt tools. Darkness or Light Struck as fight-long modifiers. Life Splash as sustain, not as a win condition.
Dual-wield warning: same-type stance cuts status apply rate by 40%. If your whole plan is “fill the bar to 100%,” mixed hands with full apply rate can beat dual-wield. Footage described additive buildup (example: 25% per hit toward 100%). More hits still win — that is why dual daggers remain the stacker king — but a slow dual-wand stacker can lose to a mixed wand-plus-dagger.
Bosses can be afflicted. That is Steam’s line, not a rumor. Do not save your entire status kit for trash nodes. Open the bar on the boss, then spend unique skills during the punished animation. Details on the status effects tool.
Blessings: crit/status packages, consecutive hits, and anything that says apply rate. Skip enemy-buffing auras unless your DoT already outpaces the extra incoming damage.
How to pick in the first ten minutes
- If you have not cleared Waywood Forest, take sword and shield.
- If you already dodge like the demo no-hit crowd, take dual daggers.
- If the shop sells two wands and you have mana, take wand caster.
- If you find one absurd status weapon, pivot to status stacker even if the weapons list had you on another letter.
- If nothing matches, mixed sword and dagger is the honest default — full numbers, two skills, no stance tax.
Gold buys the missing piece of a pair. Funguy buys the meta that makes later runs spawn better shops and blessings. Do not spend Funguy trying to “main” a class that does not exist; spend it so the next run can actually roll the pair you want.
New Game+ changes the ranking without changing the rules: enemy damage, speed, health, size, and status apply rate all climb. Dual daggers need better dodge. Dual swords and wands gain value from reach. Sword-and-shield climbs again. Status stacker stays good because bosses remain afflict-able, but enemies apply their own statuses faster — blessings that keep you above 70% HP start to look like build-defining relics rather than comfort picks.
Challenge Maps are one life. Pick the archetype you have already beaten a chapter with, not the one you saw in a clip. Then path the map so a blacksmith and a bonfire exist before the boss, because no amount of S-tier theory survives an empty potion belt.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What is the best Rogue Blight build at launch?
For a first clear, sword and left-hand shield. For players who already dodge, dual daggers. There is no single patched “best.” This page is launch-week community guidance.
Should I always dual-wield matching types?
Only if you want both skills swinging together and can live with 40% less damage and status apply rate. Mixed hands keep full values. See the weapons tier list.
Can bosses be status-stacked?
Yes. Steam states statuses apply to any enemy, including bosses. Build-around advice is on status effects.
Where do I learn the actual weapon skills?
In-game tooltips first, then the weapons and builds guide. This tier page ranks archetypes, not every unique skill name.
How do blessings change these grades?
Second Life and high-HP damage reduction lift every melee pair. Consecutive-hit and crit/status packages lift dual daggers. Shield cooldown only lifts sword-and-shield. Full ranks: blessings.
Does New Game+ kill glass builds?
It stresses them. Enemies gain damage, speed, health, size, and status apply rate. Wand range and shields climb; dual daggers stay S only if your combat is clean.
