Rogue Blight Permanent Upgrades
Sanctuary, gold versus Fungi, legendary sets, Cartographer, and what Thebe actually sells.
Rogue Blight’s rogue-lite half is the account that survives a death. The game launched on Steam on 3 September 2026 for Windows, macOS, and Linux as a single-player 2D souls-like from CodeRadGames. Between runs you return to a Sanctuary hub — grave, music cue The Sanctuary, upgrade menus — and spend two currencies on unlocks that change the next map. Steam store copy: permanently upgrade your character and unlock additional options in future runs. Official materials describe about 20 unique meta upgrades. This page is that shop. It is not a complete price list and it does not invent DPS.
Demo patch 1.10 had to unstick players from the Sanctuary floor. That is how much time you will spend here. First-hour habits live on getting started. After the credits, the climb is New Game+.
Gold versus Fungi (Funguy)
Two wallets. Do not mix them at a node prompt.
Gold is the in-run currency. You earn it on enemy nodes, spend it in shops on weapons, gear, and blessings, and (with the right unlock) keep some of it when a run ends. Emptying the purse on a random shop blessing can starve the Sanctuary node that makes run two less stingy.
Fungi / Funguy is the mushroom meta currency. Official text uses both spellings; demo patch 1.17 renamed a stats-page line from Fungi Level to Total Fungi for clarity. You spend it between runs on the account. Demo patch 1.11 stopped Wendigo minions from dropping Fungi and tripled the reward for completing maps as compensation — labeled demo patch, not a 1.0 table. The Medieval Fest demo update granted 100 Fungi after a save reset so players could stand up again.
Map encounters still spend gold at shops and junk at the blacksmith. Fungi is not a shop SKU on the forest graph.
Konrad’s interview note: it should still be possible to beat the game without upgrades. Spend like the shop is a comfort and a multiplier, not a wall inside a game you already bought.
The Sanctuary and Thebe
The hub is a grave-like sanctuary. The demo told players that leaderboards lived to the left of the grave. Soundtrack track 8 is The Sanctuary. You customize the rogue here, pick starting gear once unlocks exist, and open the upgrade UI.
Thebe is the named upgrade menu. Demo patch 1.11 made the Thebe menu auto-select the General tab instead of Back. Treat Thebe as the Sanctuary shopkeeper UI, not a chapter boss. Patch notes also highlighted the selected page button in the main-hub upgrade menu (demo 1.10). You will tab through categories; do not mash Back.
What the ~20 unique upgrades expand, from official copy, interviews, and demo footage (not a complete dump):
- potion unlocks (health, mana)
- keep gold when a run ends
- bonfires that refill potions
- statues that grant extra health, mana, or stamina
- richer shops and extra sold slots
- blacksmith forge points per smelt
- a starting weapon choice (demo: wooden wand option)
- a starting minor blessing
- perception for button-prompt events
- blessing rerolls
- extra weapon slots (demo players described this as a Funguy purchase)
Player level from kills is a second axis: it expands the loot pool of weapons, gear, and blessings. That is not a Thebe node. It is why finishing fights still matters when you already own the economy upgrades. Pairing those drops is weapons and builds. Timing them in a duel is combat.
Stat and defence upgrades (Medieval Fest)
The 20 April 2026 Medieval Fest major demo update (Steam news) added explicit stat and defence upgrades. Label this Steam demo news, then confirm the same names in your 1.0 Thebe list:
- Increase Max Health
- Increase Max Mana
- Increase Max Stamina
- Increase Defence
- Increase Elemental Resistance
- Status Resistance
Those six are why a later New Game+ loop feels less like a brick: enemy damage, speed, health, size, and status apply rate all climb. Health and defence buy mistakes. Mana funds skills. Stamina funds the dodge-and-swing loop. Elemental and status resistance answer the ten Steam statuses — Bleed, Poison, Burn, Freeze, Shock, Choke, Shatter, Life Splash, Darkness, Light Struck — when enemies apply them faster.
Same Medieval Fest notes: STR now increases critical damage instead of poise. Older copy and footage had treated Strength as attack damage; this patch retargets the crit half. Do not play as if poise still scales with STR unless your 1.0 tooltip still says so — read the card. Dexterity in public footage remains crit chance plus stamina recovery; Intelligence remains mana and elemental damage.
Starting gear as a run buff
Medieval Fest: starting gear now provides permanent buffs for the duration of a run, and the start-of-run picker shows stats and buffs. That is a loadout decision, not fashion. Armor you pick up later still shows on the body (helmet, chest, arms, pants, boots). A wooden sword with poison and Berserk is a teaching blade. Once Thebe unlocks a wand or daggers as a starter, pick the family you actually fight.
Starting-gear buffs last the run. They do not replace a Thebe max-health node. They do mean you should stop randomizing the rogue’s look and then ignoring the stat pane. A first-hour plan for which starter to take sits on getting started. Chapter routing after you leave the hub sits on the walkthrough.
Legendary gear and sets
Medieval Fest added Legendary Gear that can rarely drop from monsters, each with unique effects. Named in that Steam news post:
- Zima’s Armor Set
- Bloody Gorilla Armor Set
- Sibs Glasses
- Wendigo’s Armor Set
This wiki will not invent set bonuses. Read the tooltip. Gorilla and Wendigo are confirmed boss names; Zima is also a ? event warrior (Medieval Fest added the fight; demo 1.17 moved the Zima NPC encounter to the second half of a run and cut Zima health from 335 to 300 — demo patch numbers).
Demo patch 1.17 (Steam news, June 2026) added more legendaries: Thebe’s Beehive and Boots of Endurance. It also let the Legendary Drop Chance upgrade be purchased twice, and it made full legendary set items significantly less likely than individual legendary pieces (the notes said set items had been 87% of legendary drops, reduced to 62.5% — demo patch figures, not a 1.0 datamine). A footage blessing of +7% legendary find sits on the blessings tier list; that is an in-run relic, not a Thebe node.
Weapon arts named in 1.17: Parrying Dagger, Iron Dagger, Iron Sword, Iron Rapier, Ice Wand. Those are skill updates on existing families, not a reason to skip the duel.
Cartographer
Medieval Fest added a Cartographer menu that displays all blessings discovered in previous runs. The developer’s Thumb Wars interview described the concept as a cartographer who draws maps with four arms. Demo patch 1.11 even shortened German Cartographer text so it fit the screen. Use the menu as a collection log, not as a live map hack.
Demo patch 1.18.2 (Steam news, June 2026) removed Cartographer’s Chart and Map Fragment blessings from the demo on higher difficulties, because they currently provided no benefit. Label that demo. If those relics still exist in 1.0, read the tooltip; do not assume a chart reveals a Challenge Map layout for free.
Blessing pickup rules stay on blessings and chest routing on map encounters. The Cartographer is how you remember what you already saw.
What to buy first
A practical Sanctuary order after a death:
- Economy: keep gold, potion refill at bonfires, shop stock.
- Fight stats: max health / stamina / mana, then defence and resistances.
- Start-of-run quality: starting weapon, starting minor blessing, starting-gear buffs you actually read.
- Luxury: Legendary Drop Chance (demo: two ranks), extra slots, rerolls, cosmetics.
Do not dump Fungi into legendary find if you still die to the first Waywood elite. Do not skip statue value if your walkthrough already shows you praying every chapter. Challenge Maps pay well but cost the run if you fail — bank the multiplier before you tap a one-attempt tile.
After the credits, New Game+ is the long game. The Sanctuary is how that climb stays honest instead of becoming a size-and-status brick. Official links and patch posts live on the links hub and updates. Day-one recap: launch notes. The rest of the article map is the guides hub.
The upgrade that saves the next forest is the one that removes a frustration you can name — empty flasks, a stingy shop, a starter you hate — not the node that looks rare in Thebe.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Where do I spend permanent upgrades in Rogue Blight?
In the Sanctuary hub between runs. Thebe is the named upgrade menu (demo patch 1.11 auto-selects the General tab). Leaderboards were teased to the left of the grave in the demo.
What is the difference between gold and Fungi?
Gold buys shop stock during a run and funds some account unlocks. Fungi (also called Funguy) is the mushroom currency spent between runs on meta upgrades. Demo 1.17 renamed a stats line to Total Fungi.
How many unique meta upgrades are there?
Official copy describes about 20 unique upgrades that expand later options, such as shop stock. Konrad has said the game should still be beatable without them.
What legendary sets did Medieval Fest add?
Steam news named Zima's Armor Set, Bloody Gorilla Armor Set, Sibs Glasses, and Wendigo's Armor Set. Demo 1.17 added Thebe's Beehive and Boots of Endurance. This wiki does not invent set bonuses.
What does the Cartographer menu do?
Medieval Fest added a menu of blessings discovered in previous runs. Demo 1.18.2 removed Cartographer's Chart and Map Fragment blessings from the demo on higher difficulties because they provided no benefit.
Does Strength still increase poise?
Not after the Medieval Fest demo update: Steam news says STR now increases critical damage instead of poise. Confirm the 1.0 tooltip. Dexterity in footage remains crit chance plus stamina recovery.
